We’re thrilled to announce that Metis Associates has been selected to partner with AVID Center on a comprehensive evaluation of the AVID Elective program!
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) works with thousands of schools nationwide, working to close opportunity gaps by equipping students—particularly those historically underserved—with the academic and social skills needed to thrive in rigorous coursework and beyond. The AVID Elective, available in grades 6-12, is a multi-year course designed to build essential college-readiness skills and support students in advanced coursework.
Under the leadership of Julia Alemany, our year-long evaluation will engage approximately 40 districts and 150+ secondary schools to examine:
- Impact on AVID Elective students from middle school through postsecondary outcomes
- Schoolwide spillover effects on non-AVID Elective students
- How AVID Elective professional learning affects educator practice and school culture
- What implementation factors drive the strongest results
This builds directly on Metis’s college readiness and impact evaluation portfolio. We’re honored that AVID Center selected us for this critical study.
