That’s why the work of Broward County Public Schools Department of Magnet and Innovative Programs is so important, and why Metis is proud to spotlight our partner whom we’ve worked alongside for the past 16 years.
BCPS’s Magnet and Innovative Programs are redefining education through innovation and choice, offering 17 magnet themes across 49 schools and 8 innovative program themes across 25 schools, spanning grades K-12. From technology and engineering to the arts and health sciences, these theme-based pathways draw students from across the district into immersive, hands-on learning aligned to rigorous postsecondary opportunities and high-demand, high-pay industries across South Florida.
Metis has been proud to support this work through a sustained partnership that includes:
- Grant writing that has secured four federal Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) grants over 16 years to build K-12 STEM and career-focused pathways
- Increasing K-8 STEM access supporting the rollout of STEM programming across 6 elementary and 6 middle schools, expanding access for students countywide
- Bolstering career academies through the 2018 launch of six Integrated Career and Academic Networks, offering 6-12 career academies in fields like entrepreneurship, engineering, marine and biological sciences, entertainment and media, and game design built on partnerships with local businesses and cultural institutions
- Supporting emerging pathways on the 2022 launch of K-12 ACES pathways in Aerospace/Aviation, Innovative Arts/Fashion Design, E-Commerce/Entrepreneurship, Engineering, and Cybersecurity across 5 collaborating schools
- Providing evaluation services including qualitative and quantitative data analysis to help the district identify promising practices, target areas for improvement, and build sustainable programs
