Metis to Evaluate the PEP Foundation College Readiness Program

Metis is delighted to begin a relationship with the PEP Foundation, which provides college-preparatory academic and social programs for public school students in Summit, New Jersey. The foundation is currently providing this continuum of services to a cohort of 40 students ranging from fifth through twelfth grade at its headquarters in Summit. Those who complete the program receive full scholarships for college tuition.

Metis is providing technical assistance to help the PEP Foundation develop an evaluation plan so that it can assess its progress on an ongoing basis and use data to make informed decisions. In particular, Metis will work with PEP to develop a logic model and evaluation instruments; conduct a literature review on best practices in out-of-school-time programming; interview program staff to obtain data on the design and implementation of the program; and train staff to collect, analyze, and interpret the data. In addition, Metis will review PEP’s database with an eye toward improving the use of program participation and academic data to guide service delivery.

The PEP program was started in 1996 by a caring local family that wanted to make sure that children in the community who have limited economic resources had the chance to attend and complete college and reach their highest potential.
