Fairfield County Community Foundation Puts Metis Research Results into Action

The Fairfield County Community Foundation in March 2013 asked Metis to conduct a study to determine perceptions of the greatest challenges and opportunities that county residents face. More than 700 community members provided feedback to Metis via surveys, focus groups, and individual interviews, revealing a robust and complex picture of residents’ views.

For Metis, it is profoundly rewarding when our clients share our research findings and put them immediately to use. In an email to constituents, including study participants, FCCF’s president and CEO Juanita T. James wrote:

“Metis Associates presented us with their findings, which included a sense that education and economic opportunity are the two most pressing areas of need in Fairfield County where the Foundation can make an impact. More specifically, targeting older adolescent and younger adult skills development and employment is a timely way to address both issues. The community input and the review of regional research and data reinforce this recommendation.”

These findings will assist the foundation in setting strategic priorities for the coming years. Ms. James noted that three priorities will be strengthening local nonprofit organizations, improving donor services, and building partnerships to drive community impact.
